Counseling Center
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is the process of "talk therapy," where clients work with clinicians to uncover the roots of their problems, learn about themselves, develop coping skills, improve their relationship functioning, and target thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Crosswind Counseling Center's therapists specialize in a variety of therapeutic modalities and interventions, treating a wide array of psychological symptoms related to trauma, anxiety, depression, and more, which have significant impacts on your day-to-day life and relationships.
Our Psychotherapy Offerings
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured, collaborative form of psychotherapy that focuses on underlying thoughts that contribute to a problematic behavioral outcome. The premise of CBT is that by changing your thoughts, you can change your behaviors and feelings. It is most effective for depression, anxiety, and phobias.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
ART is an approach to psychotherapy that helps people replace negative images in their minds. ART is usually time-limited and can be offered as a supplement to other talk therapy interventions. ART is ideal for people who have experienced traumas that are difficult to overcome.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
TF-CBT is a highly structured, short-term therapeutic model for children who have experienced trauma. TF-CBT requires a collaborative relationship between the child and their caregiver.
Gender & Sexuality
We value providing ethical, gender-affirming care to people, partnerships, and families and pride ourselves on being a safe space for people facing challenges related to gender and sexuality. We offer therapeutic services focused on general sexual health and age-appropriate sexual behaviors. We aim to reduce discomfort through discretion, compassion, and confidentiality so that all of our clients feel safe in accessing services.
Couples/Partnership Counseling
We understand that couples and partnerships take on many forms and dynamics. We are sensitive to and knowledgeable regarding the multitude of challenges faced by intimate partnerships. Through counseling, we work collaboratively with you and your partner(s) to overcome obstacles to communication, problem-solving, and harmony in your relationship.
Family Therapy & Family Systems Therapy
Family therapy is a form of talk therapy focusing on improving family relationships. The family is treated as a functioning organism, with each member serving a specific role that maintains homeostasis. Family therapy is often offered to a family system in conjunction to one or more family members receiving individual therapy services.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Often, we integrate mindfulness-based interventions into traditional talk therapy. Mindfulness interventions focus on raising awareness of innner experiences such as sensations, thoughts, consciousness, and the environment. This is done through focusing on the present moment and being attentive to our experiences. Techniques include guided imagery, body scans, breathing exercises, and mindful eating.
Humanistic Therapy
Humanistic therapy is a type of talk therapy in which the therapist and client work in a collaborative, egalitarian relationship to explore the client's feelings in the present moment. This approach is helpful in treating anxiety, depression, personality disorders, schizophrenia, panic disorders, addiction, and relationship concerns.
