Therapy (ART)
Interested in cutting-edge therapy techniques that can effectively treat your trauma symptoms quickly? Crosswind Counseling Center's therapists specialize in ART, which is a therapeutic technique designed to allow you to resolve your distress in just a few sessions, letting you get back to living life and feeling like yourself.
1
What is ART?
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a specialized form of psychotherapy that helps people change the way distressing memories are stored in the brain. ART involves combining eye movements with validated therapies like Gestalt, psychodynamic theory, and guided imagery.
2
How does ART work?
In ART, the therapist guides the client through a process of replacing painful or intrusive mental images with new, positive images the client chooses. When the troubling images are transformed, the emotional triggers tied to them typically fade, and symptoms like nightmares or intrusive thoughts can diminish or stop altogether.
3
How long does ART take?
ART sessions are generally the same length as any other therapy session: 45 minutes to an hour. The shift in creating new mental images often happens quickly, with many people experiencing significant relief in just one session. We often see clients ready for discharge within a few weeks of ART -- meaning you can get back to living your life and not be so burdened by your trauma.
4
Who can benefit from ART?
ART does not discriminate -- it has shown to be effective with lots of conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, eating disorders, and addictive disorders!
